2012 wasn’t a great year for Tig Notaro. In short order, the up-and-coming standup comedian was diagnosed with C. diff. (a rare digestive disorder), her mother died, she went through a breakup, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a bilateral mastectomy. Not exactly fertile ground for comedy.
At a brisk 45 minutes, 7 Days in Hell feels more like a Saturday Night Live sketch than an actual film. However, that brevity is the project’s saving grace.
Before we launch into the spring premier maelstrom, I wanted to take this bye week to talk about up some shows that slipped through the cracks. So here’s my roundup of a sitcom and two documentaries worth checking out.
